Previous Chapter
Amy and Serena took each others hand for strength.
They pulled in tight anxious and scared of what he
might say.
"Molly's operation went fine." In glee they hugged
each other, finally some hope on this. "However..."
Serena's heart sank, this could be bad. What if Molly
never can do things again, what if she lives her life
with pills, what if..... Her mind raced, with worries
and yet somewhere she found a bit of hope enough to
let her listen to the doctor. "We need to keep her
here until her heart strengthens." The doctor pulled
up a chair to sit beside the girls. Serena began to
sink in her chair, worried with grief. Amy sat up
with her ears perked, ready to hear what was going
on. She knew that later she would have to explain
it to everyone else. "Molly's left ventricle collapsed
and the right one was weakening steadily."
"What does that mean?" Serena asked in a frightened
tone.
"That means that Molly's heart is well... giving
up."
"No, Molly is no quitter!"Serena stormed away and
into the ladies room.
"Will she be okay? I can get the grief counselor
to see her."
"She will be but first, will you tell me everything,
the procedure, possible cures and Molly's survival
chance."
"You're a tough one, all right I give you the report."
He smiled.
As Amy and the doctor discussed Molly, Serena found
her way into Molly's room. Molly laid there attached
to multiple monitors, with tubes and wires coming
out of her. Another doctor, was taking a reading on
a machine, and a nurse was arranging the curtains.
"Nurse, make sure the IV gets changed every four
hours. Keep a syringe of adrenaline ready, in case
she relapses."
"Yes doctor," she grabbed her clipboard and left.
"Oh, hello," said the doctor looking up at Serena.
He was medium tall with a firm build, deep eyes and
long blond hair. He extended his hand out to Serena.
"I'm Dr. Kerigen, I'm Molly's cardiologist." Serena
took his hand and shook it.
"I'm Serena..."
"Ah, the young lady with Molly."
"That's right."
"Well luckily you were with her, any longer and we
wouldn't be talking." He lightly smiled.
"Doctor, will she make it?"
"Call me Matthew, and for now I don't know. Cases
like Molly's go fifty fifty, it depends on the patient."
"So you don't know?"
"No, it's all up to Molly. One hope that I have for
you is...You see that machine?"
"Yeah,"
"As long as this beeping stays steady, that means
that Molly's heart is steady, that's important."
"Okay."
"Well I have to go now, my rounds await." Serena
pulled up a chair next to Molly and held her hand.
Molly looked so frail. Her skin was very pale, her
eyes were closed, looking peaceful. She wore a hospital
gown with little blue flowers on it, but the wires
and tubes was what brought on the dismal appearance.
"Hi Darien, did you find anything?" asked Amy.
"No, not a thing, it's like no one knows anything."
"How's Molly?"
"Well, her heart began collapsing, starting with
the left ventricle.." Amy took careful time to explain
it all.
"So now there isn't much the doctors can do?"
"I'm afraid not, it's all up to Molly."
"I'm going into see Serena," Darien came up to Serena,
who didn't even notice he was there. He put his arms
around her and kissed her on the cheek.
"Oh, Darien, I can't believe this is happening, why?"
"Serena, I don't know, why. No one does but God and,
well, we have to leave it up to him."
"Thanks Darien, I guess that's the most sane answer
I got all day" she squeezed his hand.
"Listen, I have to go to work now, but if you need
anything you call me."
"Okay." They kissed goodbye and Darien left.
"Amy, before I go, if Molly dies, call me immediately."
"All right Darien" They exchanged a quick hug and
Darien left. As time passed the other scouts arrived,
each with flowers and wishes. Rei brought a healing
scroll for Molly, Lita brought a dozen roses, and
Mina brought a couple of her magazines for Molly when
she woke up. Amy explained everything to them.
"Did you find anything on her mother?"
"No,"
"I found a number and when I called it it was a hotel
but she already check out." Reported Mina.
"That's it?"
"No, I called a friend at Scotland Yard for help,
they are looking for her."
"I hope they find her, she has to know." Lita replied.
They all found chairs and sat all around Molly's bed,
talking and trying to console Serena.
"It's midnight ladies, visiting hours are over you
will have to leave."
"I'll get Serena" Lita offered.
"No, Dr. Kerigen said that Serena may stay."
"Okay, but here," Lita slipped the nurse a piece
of paper, "If anything changes you must call me, cause
Serena is going to need support."
"Okay, I will." She smiled and put the paper into
her pocket.
"We have to leave, visiting hours are over," Amy
whispered to Serena.
"I don't want to leave."
"No, Serena not you, Dr. Kerigen said you could stay."
"I gave the nurse my number and if anything happens
she'll call me, so don't worry about it."
"Thanks Lita."
"I'm going back to the temple and lighting the fire
for Molly."
"Okay Rei."
"Well, good night Serena." Mina hugged her and left.
"Take care." Amy hugged her and followed Mina out.
"I have my bike here, you want a ride Rei?"
"Sure."
"Okay, bye Serena, take care."
"Thanks you guys." Lita and Rei left. By two a.m.
Serena fell asleep only to awaken to a strange feeling.
She looked up at Molly, but Molly was in her coma-like
state. Then she looked at the roses Lita gave her
and almost fell over at what she saw. Smelling the
roses was a figure.
"Death, you are not getting her!" Serena blocked
the edge of Molly's bed with her eyes closed and arms
outstretched.
"Relax, I'm not Death."
"Wait a know that voice but it can't be, you're dead,"
Serena opened her eyes as the figure stepped forward,
into the moonlight. He was tall and built, he had
blue eyes the glistened like pools of the clearest
water, and long red/brown hair that waved around him.
He wore a nice suit, white pants that fit loosely
but just right, a light blue/purple shirt with the
collar open, and a white coat, open and wore well
on his fine shoulders.
"I know, and now Molly is ill and I had to see her,
it's a perk of heaven." He crossed over to Molly and
took her hand. "I hate to say it but I almost wish
she would pass so that we could be together again."
"Is that why you're here, to help her cross over?"
"Not really, my first reason is to be with her,
don't you understand love?"
"I didn't know that you loved her so much."
"How could I not, she taught me love." Molly's eyes
began to flutter, and she tried to speak.
"Maxfield," she said softly as if she was forcing
the words out. "I'm here Molly, and so is Serena."
Serena stood next to Nephlyte and held Molly's hand.
"I'm glad."
"How are you feeling?"
"Tired."
"I got your rose, you still remember?"
"Can't forget," Nephlyte got up and laid next to
Molly. He held his head up with his left hand and
wrapped his right arm around Molly. She drifted back
to sleep looking more peaceful than before. "Do you
trust Molly with me?"
"You've shown love in ways I didn't think you could,
yes, I trust you."
"Good, then understand what is going to happen,"
BEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!
"What's going on!?" A team of nurses and a doctor
came charging in. They began shouting orders, checking
monitors, ripping the bed sheets off of Molly. They
never noticed Nephlyte and he never moved, he just
held her.
"Go wait outside," a nurse ordered. Minutes gone
by as Serena waited in a chair. The shouting stopped,
and they all filed out. Serena began walking in.
"Miss, oh miss," called a nurse. Tears streamed down
Serena's face, she knew. She walked into the room
the monitors were off and the tubes were gone, Molly
was covered with the sheet.
"NO!!!" Serena collapsed on the floor crying.
"Serena, I told you to trust me." She looked up and
saw them. Molly was beautiful, her hair came to her
shoulders and curled around her face, her eyes were
gleaming in happiness, she wore a delicate light blue
dress, it was tight on top and flowed all around her
legs, gracefully. She looked so happy and well, Serena
had never seen her so beautiful. She stood in Nephlyte's
arms, a tear raced down his cheek as he was with her
again.
"Molly, I'll miss you."
"I will always be with you, never forget that."
Molly reassured her. With that Molly and Nephlyte
embraced and shattered into thousands of light shards.
"Don't go," Serena half whispered. Her head bowed
down and her hand outstretched as if she could touch
them. The girls and Darien all appeared they hugged
Serena for support. "Thanks." She wiped a tear from
her cheek.
"What happened?"
"A reunion, Darien, a reunion."
