I sifted through the many replies for the dance
tonight. It was going to be quite a celebration,
even though no one knew what it was for. Two things
would be happening tonight. First, Prince Endymion
and Selenity would be pronounced as engaged. The prince
would now be welcome at all times on the moon and
vice versa for my daughter. Second, I reached
into one of the folds in my dress and pulled out two
crystals, laying one in my lap and holding the other
to eye level. The sun crystal would be passed to
its rightful owner. I never did know why Queen Hoshiko
didn't want to give it to her daughter personally,
but she was a wise woman, so there must be a reason.
The crystal held a diamond-like shape, it's golden
light filtering through the room's shadows. Tonight
Princess Hoshi would receive her birthright. The sun
crystal...It was the only known thing in this galaxy
that's power equaled, yes, perhaps even surpassed
that of the ginzuishou. A crystal created to aid the
strongest protector of the heir to the moon throne.
Supposedly, it gave its owner the power to project
thought into the mind of others, as well as lending
strength to others when they needed it. Also, its
rightful owner would instinctively know how to use
it when the need arose.
A knock at the door.
"Queen Selenity?"
Princess Hoshi. I put both crystals back into
their original location.
"Come in, Hoshi." When she did, her expression was
grim, something must be very wrong. "What is
wrong?"
"Queen Selenity, I fear that there will be an attack
tonight."
"Oh? Why is that?" She was not the kind to have
premonitions. The closest thing for was her ability
to read peoples thoughts at times.
"I think I had a premonition, the first day after
the attempted kidnapping. I saw a dance here, and
then an attack." She was holding something back.
"Is that all?"
"Well, there were four generals leading the attack,"
I could see her wince as she continued, "they looked
like the court of the Earth Prince."
Well, perhaps she was just upset over their disapearence.
After all, she had trained with the four generals
since childhood, on top of senshi training. They had
all been such good friends…
"What course of action do you suggest?" I could tell
that she was still hiding something, but I did not
want to push her if she did not wish to say whatever
it was.
"Calling off the dance. It's an easy target with
so many innocent people."
She was really worried, not a good sign. And calling
off the dance, if possible, would be a drastic move.
What was she not telling me? I shook my head sadly,
"I cannot do that, there is not enough time." For
that matter, there was barely any time, half an hour
until I have to be there.
"Then, please allow me to bring all the senshi early."
"All the senshi?"
"My mistake, I meant all the senshi of your daughter's
court."
"Granted, will there be anything else?"
"No, I'm sorry if I've bothered you."
"Do not be, you were right tell me," What was
she holding back? It was obviously important.
"Well, I'm going to gather everyone." She turned
to leave.
Her discretion no longer gave her the right to
decide; I needed to know.
"Hoshi," She turned again to face me, "what else
did you see?"
"Well, you had to use the ginzuishou." That was
wrong, there had to be a reason that I used the ginzuishou,
why could the senshi not destroy the enemy?
"Why was that?" She bit her lip and looked at the
floor, "Hoshi, I need to know."
"Princess Selenity was...injured." So that was
it. "May I go now?"
"Yes, thank you." My dear Selenity...
